My Bio...

I was born in California but raised in Texas. In 1973, I received my B.S. degree in Physical Education and Health Education from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. After teaching in junior high and high school for a while, I earned a Master of Arts degree in English from Texas Tech University in May of 1988. My main course of study was British and European Literature. However, I especially love science fiction. My master's thesis was written about the literature of a Northwest science fiction writer and UW professor--Joanna Russ. I originally came west to enroll at the University of Washington and get my Ph.D. But plans change.

In the Fall quarter of 1988, I was hired as part-time faculty at BCC, and I have taught here ever since. I was hired to the full-time faculty in 1992 and completed my tenure work in 1995. From the dry, West Texas plains, I have found a new home, living on an island in the middle of Puget Sound near the water, the mountains, and the trees.
