Information for Conference Participants

Accommodations:  We have reserved a block of rooms at the Eastgate Silver Cloud Inn.  The Silver Cloud Inn is about one mile from BCC and they will have a shuttle to campus available.  We will also be holding the conference banquet at the Silver Cloud.

Dates and Times:  The conference will begin at 2:00 pm on Friday October the 8th and end at 6:00 pm on Saturday October 9th.  We expect that there will be some informal socializing in Seattle on Saturday evening.  So you might want to book return travel for Sunday the 10th.

Places:  Campus operations is still working on room assignments for the paper sessions.  These will be added to the program shortly.  Conference registration will be in one of the rooms adjoining the cafeteria.  Here is a map of the BCC campus.

Parking:  NWPC participants are welcome to park in student or visitor parking.  No parking permit will be required during the conference.

Commentators:  Commentary should run around 10 minutes.  Commentators should send a draft of their commentary to paper authors at least two weeks before the conference.

Sessions:  The paper sessions will last for 50 minutes.  The sessions should be structured roughly as follows:  20 - 25 minutes for delivering the paper, around 10 minutes for commentary, 5 minutes for author's reply to commentary, and the remainder of the hour for discussion.  Authors and commentators may make adjustments as they see fit, but at least 10 minutes of the session should be left open for discussion.  It will be the responsibility of session chairs to make sure that adequate time is given to discussion.
